The Federal university of Agriculture Abeokuta have produces two Ofada rice varieties for farmers. The two varieties known as FUNABOR 1 and FUNABOR 2 (Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta Ofada Rice). They are also called Ofada white and the Ofada gold.
For the first time, farmers planting ofada now have a choice of going for white or gold varieties. Before you will see mixtures, the institution have beeen able to purify and register the two varieties with the National Council for Registration of Crop and Livestock at the federal level.
